Ashley's Book Club

I finished this book last night. It was a mystery, which was a nice change of pace, as I don't really read mysteries too often. Anyway, the premise was interesting, but a bit unbelievable. The whole set-up is that a woman's husband buys her this old house for her birthday as a surprise. It turns out that it is actually the house she grew up in as a child. When she was 10, she accidentally shot and killed her mother in the house. Her father had recently died in an accident, so she is adopted by cousins, moves away and changes her identity. So it is just a total coincidence that her husband buys her this same house. Right.

Drama ensues as there is a chain of murders that begins as soon as she moves back into town.

The book is a little predictable and full of those moments like in horror movies, when you want to scream and shake the character to tell them that running up the stairs and hiding in the closet is not a good idea. Still, it was kind of fun and a quick read.
